Katherine McCary is a Vice President in Human Resources and Manager of Accessing Community Talent (ACT), at SunTrust Banks, Inc. diversity program for the Mid-Atlantic region (Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC.) She has over 25 years of staffing experience and in her 14 years with SunTrust her contributions to SunTrust Mid-Atlantic’s diversity efforts have resulted in internal, regional and national recognition.

Katherine’s current role includes leadership roles in the Business Leadership Network (BLN) organization. She serves on the Board of Directors for the USBLN, the national organization representing BLN chapters across the country. As a USBLN Director, she is also responsible for the BLN Chapters in the Mid-Atlantic. Prior to being elected to the board, she served as Chair and President of the USBLN Steering Committee. SunTrust has served as the Lead Employer for the VA BLN since its inception in 1998 and Katherine serves as its President and Chairman of the Board. The VABLN’s initiatives include quarterly training, online membership, annual employer survey, employer toolkit for work incentives and Medicaid Buy In and statewide coordinator for National Disability Mentoring Day in VA. In addition, she serves on the DC BLN Steering Committee and is active with the Maryland BLN Chapters.

In 2003, Katherine was a part of the US Department of Labor Office on Disability Employment Policy’s delegation for a United Kingdom Exchange and also a delegation member at the European Union’s meeting on disability employment initiatives.
