Ms. Jackson is the Director for the Center for Disability Services
Team, Office of Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity, Social
Security Administration.
"CDS" provides a single point of contact for Agency
managers and employees seeking advice and information on the effective
and appropriate forms of reasonable accommodation. The highly trained
CDS staff is responsible for conducting a needs assessment and
making decisions on RA requests for assistive technology, adaptive
devices and services. They are experts on policy issues and take
an active role in the recruitment of people with disabilities.
The staff manages cetralized funding to provide assistive technology
and services to SSA's 1500+ Employees with Severe Disabilities.
Linda began her career with the SSA as a Claims Representative
in 1977. Linda's experience with assistive technology and interacting
with Employees with Disabilities goes back to 1983 when she instructed
her first class of visually impaired Claims Representative trainees.
In 1991 Linda joined the Office of Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity
as an EEO Specialist and soon after directed the Center for Disability
Services. During her tenure the Center has won several prestigious
awards in the area of Disability Awareness.
