Carmen Vega-Barachowitz is the Director of the Department of Speech
Language and Swallowing Disorders at Masachusetts General Hospital
(MGH). Carmen has been a spech-language pathologist for 27 years.
She graduated with a Masters Degree in Speech-language Pathology
from Florida
State University in 1979.
Although her current position is primarily
administratively, she continues to provide rehabilitation services
to patients with aphasia. Carmen is also the co-chair of the
Council of Disability Awareness at MGH. In collaboration with Oz
Mondejar,
and the rest of the Council members, the work of the council
has focused on ensuring that MGH goes beyond compliance and provides
a welcoming
environment for our patients, visitors, and staff with disabilities.
