1. What audiences will benefit from the JAN Conference?

The conference is designed for employers but is quite useful for people who work with both employers and people with disabilities. The training is appropriate for people with beginning, intermediate, and advanced knowledge of job accommodations and ADA issues. Information will be presented at an intermediate level with training staff prepared to discuss at advanced or beginning levels as needed.

The 2005 conference united more than 300 human resource managers, compliance officers, disability program managers, and other professionals from 32 states, Puerto Rico, Canada, and the Marshall Islands. Half of the participants were from the public sector, 26 percent were with private employers, and the remaining 24 percent were service providers.

2. Where is the Conference being held?

The conference will be held at the Hilton Boston Logan Airport on September 18 & 19, 2006. Directions from Mapquest. Reserve your sleeping room directly with the hotels.

3. How can I become an exhibitor?

The JAN Conference has 25 exhibit spaces. Exhibitor Registration is $600. The exhibitor fee provides for one person. The fee for additional staff is $300 per person and extra booth space is available for $300. Materials may be exhibited for $50. Please look at the Exhibitor Information and Exhibitor List pages.

4. How can I become a sponsor?

Conference sponsors are businesses and organizations committed to the employability of people with disabilities. For information on becoming a sponsor, please contact the Registration Coordinator.

5. Who are the Keynote speakers?

There will be several distinguished Keynote speakers at the 2006 Conference. Please check the Keynote Speakers' Page.

6. How much does the Conference cost?

Registration for participants is $425 before August 1 and $475 thereafter.

Personal assistants may register for $225 to cover food service (breakfasts, breaks, lunches, and reception).

Registration is closed. Purchase orders are accepted from government agencies only. Please make checks payable to WVU Research Corp.

7. Can I pay registration with a credit card?
You may use VISA, MasterCard, and Discover to pay registration fees. Call the Registration Coordinator for more information.

8. Are any meals included in the registration fee?

Continental breakfast, breaks, and lunches on both days plus the reception on Monday are included with registration.

9. How can I request an accommodation for this event?

If you wish to register for this year's JAN Conference and you have an accommodation request or special need (e.g. dietary restrictions, service animal relief area, interpreter, or Braille), please submit your accommodation request in writing at the same time you submit your registration form. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Rehabilitation Act, JAN will make a reasonable effort to provide effective accommodations for conference participants.

10. Where do I reserve a sleeping room?

Make your room reservation directly with the Hilton Boston Logan Airport at 800-HILTONS. Refer to the Job Accommodation Network or the group code "Job." The special conference rate ended on August 18. An optional hotel is the Embassy Suites at 617-567-5000. It is nearby and will shuttle guests to the Hilton.

The Hilton has 30 accessible sleeping rooms (8 with roll-in showers) and ADA Compliance Kits for people who are hard of hearing or deaf.

11. How do I get to the hotel from the airport?

The Hilton runs an shuttle to/from Boston Logan Airport. Use a courtesy phone at the airport to request an accessible shuttle.

12. Where do I park?

The hotel has self-parking for $26 per day and valet parking for $30 per day.

13. Are Continuing Education Units (CEUs) available?

14. Will there be hands-on accommodation demonstrations?

An assistive technology organization will display a range of assistive technology devices and techniques, giving conference participants the chance to experience first hand technology that allow persons with disabilities to be successful in their organization.

15. What leisure time activities are available in Boston?
