workforce productivity through the use of communication and information
technologies to manage work absence, disability and the return-to-work
process.
- Clear View Innovations.
Demonstrating the Interpreter Mirror a device for allowing sign language
interpreters to view information and activity behind them.
- Computer/Electronic
Accommodations Program. CAP provides real solutions for
real needs to ensure people with disabilities have equal access to the
information environment and opportunities throughout
the Federal government. CAP will have a sample of assistive technology on
display for demonstrations and information on how federal employees can receive
FREE accommodations through CAP.
- EARN. The Employer Assistance Referral Network (EARN) is a national
toll-free telephone and electronic information referral service. It is
designed to assist employers in locating and recruiting qualified workers
with disabilities. EARN, which is a service of the Office of Disability
Employment Policy, also can provide technical assistance on general disability
employment-related issues.
- Job Accommodation Network. The
Job Accommodation Network (JAN) is a free consulting service that
provides information about job accommodations, the Americans
with
Disabilities Act (ADA), and the employability of people with disabilities.
- The Assistive Technology Advantage. Consultation,
training, and specialized software to meet the literacy and access needs
of employees and consumers with disabilities.
- The Sierra Group.
Provides consulting and training on accommodating people with disabilities
in the workplace.
- Timberline Communications.
Extend the power of voice mail to the deaf and hard-of-hearing in your
organization. Timberline
provides a service for existiting voice mail systems that allow the deaf
and hard-of-hearing to have their voice mail messages transcribed and delivered
via e-mail.
- Virginia BLN. The
Virginia BLN membership champions opportunities to create productive and
supportive partnerships among people with disabilities, private businesses,
and governmental and community service agencies. As a business led organization,
it offers Virginia employers the business perspective, engaging both private
and public sector employers to expand their view of diversity.
Materials Distribution
- ADA IT Information
Center. Provides training, information, and technical assistance
on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
and accessible information technology (IT) to
businesses, consumers, schools, and government
agencies within the Mid-Atlantic Region (PA, DE, MD,
VA, WV, and DC).
- Office of Disability Employment
Policy. ODEP's mission is to provide
leadership to increase employment opportunities for adults and youth with
disabilities. ODEP is a federal agency in the Department of Labor.
- People with Disabilities Foundation,
Provides videos and CDs on accommodating employees and job applicants in
the workplace, housing issues, and Social Security Work Incentive Programs.
Vendors of accommodation goods and services are invited to provide display
booths at the Symposium. These will be open from 9:00 am. to 6:00 p.m. on
Monday and 9:00 a.m. to noon on Tuesday. As the booths are in a public area,
vendors may meet with participants at other times.
Vendors are responsible for their own security. They should contact the hotel
directly for telephone lines, Internet access, and other special needs.
There will be a vendor-sponsored reception in the booth area from 5:00 p.m.
to 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
